The Pace Eggers first "went out" at Easter in 1984 to raise money to buy material for the sashes and rosettes for the dancers. Since then we have only missed one year (2007) before we stopped performing the paly in 2013.
There have been a lot of changes over the years to the cast list and the purpose of these pages is to record what we remember of who played which parts. On some occasions due to lack of available people some of the cast had to double up and play two parts necessitating a quick change of costume. On rare occasions we had enough people to include Big Head although this character was usually left out.
In addition to the Eastertime performances in local pubs and at Lancaster Martime Festival on Good Friday, we have also performed the play at Sidmouth Festival, Lunen in Germany as part of their 650th town anniversary, and at lectures and symposia at various locations.
The script is based on the Lancaster Pace Egg Play but with some alterations. Various ad-libs became established parts of the script even when the part was played by a different person to the originator of the ad-lib.
