The Wigan Observer and District Advertiser of Wednesday May 4th 1881 has a detailed report of the May Day Festivities at Ince containing the following:
MAY-DAY FESTIVITIES AT INCE ...
The Morris dancers were the next to take their places on the platform, with their queen, Miss West, holding a garland. The dance commenced and proved highly interesting, the interchanges and handkerchief manipulations being very well executed.
On May 7th both The Wigan Exanimer and The Wigan Observer published the same report of the Festivities which included the following description of the performance of the Abram Morris Dancers: on the Saturday
The Morris dancers also had just time sufficient allowed them to experiment upon the “light fantastic toe.”The arrangements were complete under the management of on old Morris dancer, Mr. Burns. The young men, dressed alike in summer attire, the waving of white handkerchiefs as they moved to the strains of music, at the same time paying due homage to their queen (Miss West), added largely to the success of the festivities.

The Northwich Guardian of Wednesday May 11th 1887 and the (Leigh?) Chronicle of Friday May 13th 1887 both have the same detailed report of the Crowning of the May Queen at Golborne containing the following:
CROWNING THE MAY QUEEN AT GOLBORNE ...
... and then the Abram May-pole dancers (under the direction of Mr. Perrin), gave the ancient "Morris dance," waving their white handkerchiefs in the air to the "merrie" music.

The Wigan Observer and District Advertiser' of August 12th 1887 had the following report of a supper and meeting of the Abram Morris Dancers at The Red Lion, referred to as the Dover Locks Hotel in the article.
