While researching the Hindley Green Morris Dancers, Tony Dann was given access to the notebook kept by Richard Porter from whom Maud Karpeles collected the dance. The notebook contained his notation of the dance which he had learnt from Adam Ingram.
In 1932 Maud Karpeles published the results of her research in the Journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
